Javaerolina

This is a small 9" bronze sculpture of a Flying Javelina, (which isn't technically a pig, rather it is a peccary native to the desert in southwest USA and northern Mexico), but they look a lot like small wild pigs. Javaerolina (pronounced Have-Arrow-Leena) is a mammal that flies like a bat. Mammals don't have feathers or six limbs, so this is the only way that pigs can fly. Other flying things that are NOT birds: Bats (many kinds living all around us mostly out at night), Pterosaurs (Pteranodons & Pterodactyls) extinct except in movies (we hope!), and of course this wondrous creature. Well, its status is "unconfirmed"...
